Aikido in Today’s World

O-Sensei came to understand that a life dedicated to defeating others was in the end bound to failure. The true victory he said was the victory over oneself.

The History of Aikido is well documented. It is a relatively new martial Art, having been created by Morihei Ueshiba (O-Sensei) 1883-1969. What is truly remarkable about the Art is how much it has to offer when confronting the challenges of life today.

O-Sensei created a martial art that allows people to become stronger, and at the same time to be generous of spirit and compassionate. Practice partners are seen, not as adversaries, but as partners in the search for good technique. There are no competitive tournaments in Aikido.

Practicing Aikido means resolving conflicts over and over again in a smart, respectful, non-violent way. Perhaps that is why it is so relevant in today’s world. Come and see how Aikido can become a part of your life.
